Direct Shipper Freight Research Without Acting as a Broker

How to research direct shipper opportunities while staying tied to an authorized carrier relationship.

Practical guidance

Use the information in the correct carrier-first context.

Equitable does not guarantee freight, rates, lanes, contracts, carrier signups, revenue, income, or business results.

Carrier first, freight second

A dispatcher may research and contact shippers for a specific carrier that has approved the equipment, lanes, and service areas. The carrier must remain the decision-maker for rates and loads.

Do not allocate freight

Do not secure freight and then decide which carrier should receive it. Do not shop one load among multiple carriers, handle carrier freight money, or represent the dispatcher as the transportation provider.

Keep records

Maintain the carrier authorization, lane plan, outreach notes, contacts, opt-outs, load presentation, and carrier approval in the operating system.

Next step

Move forward with the path that matches your real role.

Read the full offer before applying. Digital products, dispatcher platform access, carrier self-dispatch, and carrier dispatch support are separate unless a written offer clearly says otherwise.
